My Friend, Bob Phillips, says, “There are no mistakes, only opportunities." We all fail. But if we’re willing to work hard, fail and learn from our mistakes, we don’t fail to succeed.
Through many examples and stories, I will show how, whether we like it or not, failure is a necessary part of an artist’s life. Failure provides the motivation and opportunity to fail better and maybe one day grow into success.
This talk builds on a commencement address by Buddhist nun, teacher and author, Pema Chodron, delivered at Naropa University, and is inspired by the words of Nobel Prize winning author Samuel Becket, who said, “Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.”
